Interwood: Your Guide to Accurate Floor Measurements

Measuring your room accurately is key to buying the perfect amount of flooring and avoiding unnecessary trips or returns.

For simple square/rectangular rooms:
  1. Measure the length and width in meters. Remember, this is the standard unit for flooring orders.
  2. Multiply length x width to get the area in square meters.
  3. Add 5-10% to account for cutting errors and waste. (e.g., 25m² + 2.5m² waste = 27.5m² total order)
For L-shaped or irregular rooms:
  1. Divide the room into manageable squares or rectangles. Sketch the layout for reference.
  2. Measure each section’s length and width, then multiply to find individual areas.
  3. Add the areas of all sections to get the total room area.
  4. Factor in 10% waste (calculated as above).
