Interwood: Your Guide to Accurate Floor Measurements
Measuring your room accurately is key to buying the perfect amount of flooring and avoiding unnecessary trips or returns.
For simple square/rectangular rooms:
- Measure the length and width in meters. Remember, this is the standard unit for flooring orders.
- Multiply length x width to get the area in square meters.
- Add 5-10% to account for cutting errors and waste. (e.g., 25m² + 2.5m² waste = 27.5m² total order)
For L-shaped or irregular rooms:
- Divide the room into manageable squares or rectangles. Sketch the layout for reference.
- Measure each section’s length and width, then multiply to find individual areas.
- Add the areas of all sections to get the total room area.
- Factor in 10% waste (calculated as above).
